Anxiety and stress, in plain terms
Most of what we call anxiety and stress runs below conscious thought. Your body reacts first and your reasoning catches up later, which is why knowing you’re safe doesn’t always make you feel safe.
Hypnotherapy for anxiety and stress works with those automatic reactions. You stay relaxed, focused and fully aware, and we use that state to rehearse the situations that set you off and practise a calmer response until it starts to come on its own. You also leave with tools you can use by yourself.
Each page below goes into one kind of anxiety in detail: what it tends to look like, how I work with it, what the research says and what it costs. If you’re not sure which fits, that’s normal. Plenty of people have a bit of two or three. Choose the closest, or just call and tell me what’s happening.
Choose where to start
- AnxietyWhen your mind keeps rehearsing the worst version of tomorrow.
- Panic attacksWhen fear comes on fast and feels physical, and the dread of the next one stays.
- Social anxietyThe rehearsing before you arrive and the replay on the drive home.
- Health anxietyWhen a clear test result brings relief for a few days, then the checking starts again.
- Test and exam anxietyFor adult students and professionals who know the work and go blank when the paper lands.
- Stress and burnoutWhen rest stops working and the job you cared about feels like a weight.
- Public speaking and performance anxietyPresentations, auditions, the wedding toast: nerves that arrive when you most want to be at your best.
How it works online
- A free 15-minute call
You tell me what’s going on. I tell you honestly whether I think I can help. No obligation, and no hard sell. Ask me anything you like about hypnosis too, such as how it feels or whether you stay in charge.
- Your first session
A full session where we map what sets you off, what you’ve already tried and what you want instead. For anxiety, panic attacks and burnout, this is where we build your treatment plan. For the other areas, it’s the first session of a 4-session program.
- Sessions by video and an audio to take home
You join from home. All you need is a quiet room, a reliable connection and a pair of headphones. After your sessions you receive an audio recording to listen to between appointments, and you’ll learn simple self-hypnosis too. Progress doesn’t have to wait for the next session.
Hypnosis needs your attention, not my physical presence. That’s why video works: you’re in your own space, with no drive home afterwards.
What it costs
Two ways it’s priced
Which one applies depends on what you’re coming for. We confirm it on the free call, before you pay anything.
- Anxiety, panic attacks, stress and burnout: a treatment plan. It starts with a $300 first session, where we build your treatment plan, and that $300 is credited to the plan. Most plans run 6 to 12 sessions, at $250 a session paid upfront or $300 a session as you go.
- Social anxiety, health anxiety, test anxiety and public speaking: a 4-session program. $1,000 paid upfront (that’s $250 a session), or $300 per session as you go ($1,200 for all four).
- Session length: your first session runs up to 90 minutes, and follow-up sessions up to 60 minutes.
- Prepaid sessions are valid for 12 months. Any you don’t need can be used for something else, or passed on to someone you know.
- Pay by card or bank transfer. Prices in AUD. No GST applies.

Please see your GP as wellAnxiety symptoms overlap with thyroid problems, heart rhythm problems, some medication side effects and alcohol withdrawal, so a first bout deserves a doctor’s check. Your GP can also refer you to a psychologist with a Medicare rebate through Better Access, and hypnotherapy sits well alongside that. Chest pain or trouble breathing is a 000 call, straight away.
